The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sierra Leone has partnered with Africell Sierra Leone to launch a nationwide awareness campaign against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

The initiative aligns with the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, observed annually from November 25 to December 10.

As part of this collaboration, Africell will disseminate a series of messages created by UNDP to its nationwide subscriber base. Those messages aim to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of SGBV, encourage community action to prevent violence, and provide information about available resources for survivors.

The campaign is designed to reach diverse audiences across urban and rural areas, ensuring widespread access to critical information and fostering solidarity with survivors of gender-based violence.

“We are pleased to partner with Africell Sierra Leone in this critical effort to raise awareness about Gender-Based Violence. Through this collaboration, we can effectively communicate the importance of addressing GBV to a broad audience, leveraging Africell’s vast subscriber base to amplify our messages and empower communities to take action,” said Fredrick Ampiah, UNDP Resident Representative.

Africell Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility by supporting this vital campaign. The company’s leadership has consistently emphasized the importance of education, empowerment, and the promotion of gender equity in its workplace and community initiatives.
