Three remanded for robbery with aggravation

Chernor Jalloh, also known as Fullah Boy, aged 28 and a plumber, Gibrilla Kamara, aged 20, alias Wizzy, and Saidu Governor Kargbo, aged 62, a businessman, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on Wednesday, May 15, for charges related to robbery with aggravation.

The accused faced a total of fifteen charges, including conspiracy to commit a crime, three counts of robbery with aggravation, causing grievous bodily harm, wounding, assault and three counts of receiving stolen goods.

According to police reports, the alleged robbery occurred on March 25, 2024, at No.84 Maraya Street, Bathurst village, Freetown. The accused, armed with a short gun and machetes, are accused of robbing several individuals and causing bodily harm.

During the court proceedings, James Kelfala Momoh Foh, a Procurement Officer for the Rural Finance Ministry of Agriculture, testified as Prosecution witness number two.

He recounted the events of the night of the robbery, during which he was alerted by his wife to suspicious activity in their compound. Foh stated that he encountered Jalloh holding a gun, and despite an attempt to shoot him, he managed to escape harm.

The witness described how the accused broke into his home, causing damage and stealing mobile phones.

Following the testimony, the Prosecution sought a short adjournment to confer with the witness.

Meanwhile, defense counsel C. Kamara and A. Mansaray renewed their previous bail applications, which were denied by Magistrate Kekura. Consequently, all accused persons were remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
