Amadu Barrie, Kadijatu Ibrahim Sow and Mariana Barrie on Monday, 13th January, 2025, made their first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road Court No.2 on three count charges of conspiracy to defraud contrary to law, obtaining money by false pretense contrary to Section (32) (1)of the Larceny Act 1916 and causing money to be paid contrary to Section (32)( 1 ) of the Larceny Act 1916.
It was alleged that on a date unknown between October 2024 to November 2024 at Grafton, Western Area Rural, with intent to defraud, conspired together with other persons unknown and defrauded Mohamed Sallieu Jakitay, Alusine Bah, Umaru Barrie, Ibrahim Barrie, Sulaman Jagitay and Alpha Jalloh, the sum of two hundred and thirty eight thousand and Fifty Leones ( NLe 238,050,00) with the pretext that they will provide Dubai Visa for their children, Isatu Barrie, Habibatu Jagitay, Amadu Jagitay, Sulaiman Jagitay, Abdul Jalloh and Salaiman Jagitay and at the same time facilitate their travelling to the said country, knowing same to be false.
It was charge alleged that on the same date, with intent to defraud, the accused persons conspired together with other persons unknown and defrauded Mohamed Sallieu Jakitay, Alusine Bah, Umaru Barrie, Ibrahim Barrie Sulaman Jagitay and Alpha Jalloh, the sum of Two Hundred and Thirty Eight Thousand and Fifty Leones ( NLe 238,050,00) with the pretext that they will provide Dubai Visa for their children, Isatu Barrie, Habibatu Jagitay, Amadu Jagitay, Sulaiman Jagitay, Abdul Jalloh and Salaiman Jagitay and at the same time facilitate their travelling to the said country, knowing same to be false.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons they pleaded not guilty
The lead prosecutor, Sergeant 3379 Balley sought for short adjournment date because the complainants were not present in court.
The accused were not legally represented in the said matter for now.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail because of the weight of the charges and sent them on remand.
The case was adjourned to the 21st of January, 2025, for further proceedings.
