Sorie Turay, also known as Bolo, along with Abdulai Koroma and Alusine Koroma, all farmers, made their first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.
They are facing a three-count charge: cultivation of a prohibited drug without lawful authority, dealing in a prohibited drug, and possession of a prohibited drug, all contrary to Sections 7(a, c) and 8(a) of the National Drug Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008).
According to the particulars of offense, on Saturday, 15th March 2025, at the Freetown Peninsula Reserved Forest Area, the accused were allegedly found cultivating, possessing, and dealing in prohibited drugs without lawful authority.
A bail application was made by the defense counsel on behalf of the accused. However, Magistrate Bangura denied the application, citing the seriousness of the offense.
The matter has been adjourned to 24th April 2025.
