Ailing Aminata and her mother

Aminata Sesay, a 12-year-old and a pupil of the United Methodist Girls’ School, once lit up her neighborhood with her radiant smile and playful spirit. Today, she faces a relentless battle against cancer that threatens to take away her ability to walk.

“It all began nine months ago when Aminata’s leg was swollen. Initially I was hopeful because it was a minor ailment, we sought help at local hospitals, only to face a devastating diagnosis—cancer of the leg”, Aminata’s mother told this medium.

Aminata now struggles with a broken bone in her leg, her movements restricted to a painful limp, supported only by a makeshift bandage. “Her condition has rapidly deteriorated, and doctors have made it clear: surgery is her only chance to preserve her mobility and her future”.

The cost is over $9,000 (Le200,000)—an insurmountable amount for Aminata’s family. Her mother, a food vendor who barely earns enough to meet daily needs, has poured every Leones of her strength into caring for Aminata and her siblings. Despite their relentless efforts to save money, the expenses for surgery, post-operative care, and physical therapy remain far beyond their reach.

“Time is running out for Aminata. Without immediate surgery, she faces a life of permanent disability, unending pain. Her laughter, her dreams, and her independence hang in the balance”, the mother said.

Aminata’s family is now making an urgent plea for help. They have turned to the kindness of philanthropists, hoping to raise the funds that could save her leg and her future.

Your support could make all the difference. Financial contributions, no matter how small, can help cover her medical expenses. If you are a medical professional or part of an organization that can provide assistance, your expertise could be life-changing.

Let’s come together to ensure that Aminata’s smile doesn’t fade. Her life, her future, and her dreams depend on the generosity of those who hear her story.
