Members of Parliament have summoned the Inspector General of Police, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Defence, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to meet with the Public Interest Committee regarding the detention of over 300 Fullahs at the Police Training School.

The action follows the deportation of some Sierra Leoneans from Guinea, which has heightened tensions across the country.

Several MPs expressed serious concerns, emphasizing that targeting a specific ethnic group could have far-reaching implications for national unity and social stability.

Lawmakers demanded clarity on who authorized the mass arrests and detentions.

“This is a critical public interest issue. It’s extremely serious, and I condemn it,” stated House Speaker Hon. Segepor Solomon Thomas.

The MPs urged the presiding Speaker to launch a thorough investigation into the situation, stressing the need for accountability and respect for human rights.
