James Alie, an unemployed man, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pandemba Road Court for stealing three cooking pots valued at NLe700 each (totaling NLe2,100) and one aluminum mortar valued at NLe300.
According to the police charge sheet, on Tuesday, January 2, 2025, at 83B Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen, Freetown, in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, James Alie allegedly stole three cooking pots and one aluminum mortar all belonging to Solomon Stevens.
Alie’s alleged crime is contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
When the charge was read and explained to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.
At the time of his appearance, Alie was not represented by legal counsel. The prosecution requested a short adjournment to allow time for proper consultation with witnesses.
Magistrate Bangura denied bail, citing the accused as a flight risk and noting that he has no fixed address. Alie was subsequently remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, January 29, 2025, for the continuation of the trial.
