Lamrena Jalloh has been remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Center after appearing before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Court No. 1, facing charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
Jalloh is charged under Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916 for breaking and larceny, as well as Section 33(1) for receiving stolen goods.
According to the charge sheet, on November 28, 2024, at 11 Thomas Compound, Aberdeen, he allegedly broke into the complainant’s residence and stole valuables worth Le 19,485,000.
The stolen items included a 32-inch plasma television, a Bluetooth player, a sky-blue bag, two black suits, and five million Guinean francs (equivalent to Le 10,000,000).
Testifying in court, the complainant recounted how he tracked his missing bag to Crab Town, where it was found in the possession of the accused’s younger brother.
With the assistance of the community chairman, he escorted the boy to Congo Town Police Station. Under police interrogation, the younger brother admitted the bag belonged to his elder brother but stated that the stolen cash was no longer inside.
Law enforcement later apprehended Jalloh, who admitted to handing over the bag to his younger brother. He then led officers to Aberdeen Banking, where another individual was found with the plasma television and the stolen bag. The police recovered the stolen items, and both suspects provided statements.
The defense counsel requested a short adjournment, and Magistrate Kekura postponed the case to March 3, 2025. Jalloh remains in custody as the trial continues.
