Yusifu Conteh has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 after being found guilty of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court records, between November 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025, at #8A Sumaila Town, Freetown, Conteh stole several construction materials, including fifteen bags of cement, forty tons of iron rods, twenty-five headpans, four shovels, one pickaxe, three motor hammers, one black box, fifteen large pipes, one roll of electrical pipe, one roll of binding wire, ten five-gallon rubber containers and twenty packets of nails.
The total value of the stolen items was estimated at Le 30,280.
When the charge was read in court, Conteh did not enter a plea.
However, Magistrate Kekura convicted and sentenced him to six months in prison due to the severity of the offense and the overwhelming evidence against him. Alternatively, he was given the option to pay a fine of Le 500 to avoid imprisonment.
