Santigie Kamara, a 26-year-old man, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, January 20, 2025, charged with one count of larceny by servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense, between April 2024 and July 2024, at Golden Beach Casino on Beach Road, Aberdeen, Kamara, who was employed as a clerk by the casino, allegedly stole betting chips valued at NLe679,590, the property of Golden Beach Casino.
When the charge was read and explained, the accused did not enter a plea.
The lead prosecutor, Sergeant 18235 Thoronka, requested a short adjournment to allow time for a proper conference with the prosecution’s witnesses.
Kamara was represented by defense counsel F.A. Kamara, who applied for bail on behalf of the accused. The defense argued that Kamara had previously been granted police bail and cited Section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965. The prosecution did not oppose the bail application.
Magistrate Bangura granted Kamara bail in the sum of NLe700,000, with two sureties in like sum. The bail is to be approved by the Assistant Deputy Registrar.
The matter has been adjourned to Monday, January 27, 2025, for further proceedings.
