Fifteen-year-old Milford King, a plumber, and Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, a mason, made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.

They face two counts of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 25(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, on Monday, March 3, 2025, at No. 3 Kamara Drive, Milton Margai College Road, Freetown, the accused unlawfully broke into the dwelling house of Amina Mans and stole NLe 4,000 in cash, property of Amina Mans.

On the same date and location, they allegedly broke into the residence of Miss Sarika Kamara and stole one engagement gold and diamond ring valued at $1,000 USD (equivalent to NLe 2,400), one Apple AirPods Pro valued at $200 USD (equivalent to NLe 4,880) one large tin of body Vaseline valued at NLe 500, one HP computer valued at NLe 5,000, one 1TB hard drive valued at NLe 2,440 and other assorted items, bringing the total value of stolen goods to NLe 39,870, property of Sarika Kamara.

When the charges were read, the accused did not enter a plea.

The prosecution, led by Inspector M. Bangura, presented its first witness, Amina Mans, a businesswoman. She identified the accused in the dock and stated that she had previously testified in the matter.

She recalled that, accompanied by a police officer, she went to her house, where Milford King was arrested and taken to the police station. She later provided a statement to the police.

During cross-examination, the defense counsel sought to prove the innocence of the accused and renewed a previous bail application on their behalf.

After considering the application, Magistrate Kekura granted bail to the second accused, Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, in the sum of NLe 100 with one surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide a valid identification card. Meanwhile, bail was continued for the first accused, Milford King.

The case was adjourned to April 10, 2025.
