Jagaban mobbed by youth and the aged at Waridala town

The leading flagbearer hopeful for the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara aka Jagaban, on Friday stormed the northern town of Waridala where he observed his Juma prayers among thousands of supporters.

Jagaban was seen mobbed by a crowed of youth and the aged in the township as he made series of promises to uplift the lives of people in that part of the country.

What came out clear in his address to the mammoth supporters at Waridala is his national character with roots from Blama in Kenema District, the north and Western Urban in Freetown.

“I don’t care whether you are blue, green or red,I support you as long as you are a Sierra Leonean. We have to embrace one another because we are all Sierra Leoneans. I am appealing to you all that you embrace peace and respect for all and sundry. With peace, we can achieve a lot in life,” he said.

Support for teachers

One of the challenges in the educational sector is the non-payment of monthly salaries for teachers who do not have government pin codes. As he places premium on education, Jagaban had asked his team to collect data on teachers who are without pin codes to facilitate payment of their monthly salaries.

“I will ask to team to come here and collect data on all teachers who are not on monthly salaries so that I start paying them monthly. Education is one of my priority areas of intervention and I don’t want to wait until I become president to support that sector. The teachers deserve a better life and I will ensure that they enjoy their job by paying them salaries,” he promised.

As part of his support to education,Jagaban had promised to provide computer laptops for pupils in the township, to enhance their knowledge in ICT.

Support for farmers

The main occupation of people in that part of the country is farming but most of them find difficult to practise large scale farming because they lack the required support to do so. For Jagaban, feeding the poor should be a priority and it is on that note that he promised to provide farmers with a tractor so that they can engage in commercial farming that would earn them more money.

“I will set aside funds to support farmers across the country and the pilot project will start in Waridala,” he said.

Women and youth empowerment

Provincial women and youth face a lot of challenges to realise their goals in society, but that would be a thing of the past for women and youth in Waridala town, according to Jagaban.

“I will empower the women and youth by providing funds to undertake mini businesses. Women and youth empowerment are among the core of my vision and I will make sure that I uplift them,” he promised.

Jagaban further promised to light up the township by providing solar panels that would electrify the entire township.

As a pious religious personality, Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara has promised to be providing monthly salaries to all pastors and imams in that part of the country as he has been doing same in other areas.
