The All Peoples Congress (APC) Member of Parliament for Eastern Urban District, Hon. Mariama Bangura, has donated 30 bags of rice and other essential food items worth thousands of Leones to Muslim congregations in the Congo Water, Rokupa, and Portee communities in Freetown.
Hon. Bangura’s gesture fulfils her annual commitment to supporting Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan, particularly her constituents.
During the donation, Chief Pa Kombrabai Bangura commended the MP for her generosity and continuous efforts to improve the well-being of her people in these communities and beyond.
Beyond providing much-needed aid, Hon. Bangura’s initiative promotes compassion and unity among the Muslim community and stakeholders in the beneficiary areas.
Presenting the items to mosque leaders (Imams), she emphasized that supporting her Muslim constituents during Ramadan has become a tradition.
“It has become a habit that every Ramadan, I reach out to my people, share food items with them, and make them happy,” she said.
She expressed her desire to extend similar assistance to other parts of the country but noted that financial constraints limit her focus to Freetown.
Hon. Bangura also encouraged her fellow MPs, especially those in the opposition, to support their people during these challenging times, highlighting Ramadan as a season of charity and giving.
