- The Government of Sierra Leone (GOSL) with support from the African Development Bank is implementing a 5-years JOB CREATION FOR YOUTH AND WOMEN IN CLIMATE SMART AGRICULTURE VALUE CHAINS AND WASTE MANAGEMENT (WOKDONCAM) Project. The WOKDONCAM project is a job growth-oriented project with social impacts whose ramifications cover job creation and employment, income generating activities, and poverty reduction and inclusivity.
- The services to be provided under this Assignment include:
- Strategic Advice and Technical Support:
– Support the development of the Annual Work Plan.
– Develop an environment and climate change inception report for the project proffering suggestions to mainstream environment and climate change prevention requirements into all project activities e.g., highlighting, if necessary, which implementation sites to conduct Social and Impact Assessments and what adaptations, if necessary, should be considered in the implementation work plan.
- Compliance with the Environment and Climate Change Requirements in the Project:
– Provide strategic advice and technical support to the Project Coordinator consistent with the African Development Bank’s Integrated Safeguards Systems (ISS) to help ensure the project meets its environment, social and climate change requirements.
– Provide technical guidance to the Project District Focal persons to ensure effective implementation of the project.
– Support the development and integration of environment, social and climate change related project indicators.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
– Supporting periodic monitoring as directed in the M & E plan.
– Develop monthly process reports assessing the impact of activities on the environment, social and the climate.
– Support the development of periodic environmental and social reports for the African Development Bank and other stakeholders.
- General Responsibilities:
– Act in a professional manner to uphold the values of the Government of Sierra Leone and support and promote Diversity and Equality (especially women and girls).
– Be flexible and carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broader remit of the project.
– Abide by the policies, code of conduct and practices of the Office of the Vice President.
– Treat with confidentiality any personal, private or sensitive information about individuals, partners and or beneficiaries or staff etc.
- The Minister of State, now invites eligible candidates to submit their application by providing detailed curriculum vitae including biodata, copies of academic and professional qualification, certificates and contact details. The duration of the contract is one (1) year, renewable subject to a satisfactory annual performance evaluation. The project lifespan is five years.
- The qualification and experience requirements for this position appear as follows:
- Master’s degree in disciplines related to environment, climate change, meteorology, earth science, economics, development studies;
- Five (5) years (or more) relevant professional experience in development of environment and climate change operations;
- Proven writing and analytical skills in designing relevant operations; sound analytic and strategic thinking;
- Updated knowledge of the critical environment, social and climate change issues including impacts of climate change on various ecosystem;
- Flexibility to undertake field work;
- Ability to communicate and write effectively in English,
- Fluency in standard MS office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
