In observance of International Anti-Corruption Day, Freetown Terminal Limited (FTL), a leading shipping and logistics hub in Sierra Leone, has launched a workplace initiative aimed at fostering transparency, accountability, and integrity among its staff.

The campaign, held at the company’s headquarters, aligns with the global fight against corruption. Under the theme “Our Decisions Shape Our Reputation,” the initiative reinforces Freetown Terminal’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and its dedication to promoting ethical conduct.

Chairing the event, Dominic Sesay emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in combating corruption. “Life is about making the right choices. Corruption is a shared concern that demands everyone’s participation and commitment,” he stated.

Managing Director Maroun Abi Aad reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ethical business practices, urging employees to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of misconduct. “No excuse is acceptable, whether direct or indirect. It is our responsibility to uphold our values and build a strong reputation through integrity,” he stressed.

Delivering the keynote address, Emmanuel Amara Esq., Coordinator of Operations at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), commended Freetown Terminal for its proactive stance. He called on other organizations to adopt similar anti-corruption initiatives, noting that corruption undermines both institutional growth and national development.

“Combating corruption is critical to fostering sustainable economic development. Institutions must create clear codes of conduct to guide staff behavior and promote a culture of public integrity,” Amara urged.

The event concluded with a call for greater collaboration among corporate entities, emphasizing that every decision counts in maintaining organizational integrity and strengthening Sierra Leone’s economic future.
