Heavy police presence at the scene

On Wednesday March 19, kids were discovered dead in an abandoned vehicle with the number plate AJA 671 at the National Pentecostal School in Freetown.

Three children including a girl were discovered in the vehicle. While the two male kids were confirmed dead, the girl survived and is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment. Speculation initially pointed to the vehicle belonging to a bishop, sparking protest among youth at Fort Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to eyewitness, fire was ignited in the middle of Circular Road, close to Fort Street by some youth in protest of the children’s death before police arrived at the scene and coiled the situation.

More details are yet to be disclosed about the incident, but police say five individuals from the school, including the bishop, are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Speaking to Concord Times, Veteran journalist Bunting Rogers-Wright of SLBS and a resident of Fort Street described the incident as a “tragedy that would teach us a lot of lessons.”

He said the vehicle had been parked at the school for a long time, describing it as a derelict vehicle.
