Sheku Kamara, alias “Publish,” along with Saio Foday Jalloh, Ansumana Marrah, Samuel Mansaray, and Mohamed Musa Kamara, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on charges of conspiracy to defraud.
The accused, including both students and businessmen, face allegations of defrauding Best New Bank Company of Le5,890,363 between January and April 2024 in Makeni, Bombali Shebora Chiefdom.
According to the prosecution, the accused conspired with others to defraud the bank. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joan Bull, the lead prosecutor, requested a brief adjournment to prepare with her witness.
Defense counsel M.K. Koroma applied for bail, arguing that the accused are Sierra Leoneans, students, and have reliable sureties. He assured the court that his clients would not interfere with witnesses or absconds, citing Section 79 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965.
However, Magistrate Bangura denied the bail request and ordered the accused to be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility. The case was adjourned to November 5, 2024.
