FIFA technical consultant impressed with Sierra Leone

Football world governing body, FIFA Regional Technical Consultant, Dominique Niyonzima in his recent visit to Sierra Leone has not hidden his emotions as he expressed his satisfaction with the country’s football infrastructures.

Niyonzima, who during his stay, conducted a workshop for Premier League and National Team coaches was impressed with the football infrastructure he saw and suggested that the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is well-positioned to apply for FIFA’s Talent Coach program, which he said would bring a world-class coach to the country for two years.

With the country’s renowned footballing figures such as Mohamed Kallon, Amidu Karim, John Edward Keister and Mohamed Lamin Kamara attended the session, who attended his workshop, Nyonzima emphasized the importance of humility, hard work, patience, and skill development.

He also highlighted the significance of Football for Schools, a FIFA initiative, and encouraged continued collaboration with the Ministries of Sport and Education to further develop the sport.

He said: “Taking the initiative to schools, and developing of grassroots football system, I believe that this will in identify talent from an early age.”
