Fourah Bay College (FBC) and Annie Walsh Memorial emerged victorious at the National Public Speaking Festival organized by Patriots Against Corruption (PAC-SL) in partnership with NP-SL Limited.
The event centered on the theme “Combating Corruption and Drugs in the Education System.”
Idrissa Bangura of FBC clinched first place at the university level, while Amida from Annie Walsh Memorial topped the high school category. Both winners expressed gratitude for the opportunity, encouraging young people to believe in themselves, persevere, and practice diligently to achieve their goals.
Speaking on behalf of NP-SL Limited’s CEO, Dr. Williet James reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering integrity and transparency in Sierra Leonean institutions. “Supporting this competition aligns with our mission to promote accountability and inspire future leaders,” she stated.
PAC-SL CEO Mohamed K. Turay shared his motivation for organizing the event, emphasizing the value of public speaking in shaping future professionals. “Public speaking builds confidence and prepares young people for the corporate world while equipping them with leadership and advocacy skills,” he noted.
The competition underscored the importance of youth engagement in addressing pressing issues in Sierra Leone’s education system, while nurturing future leaders dedicated to combating corruption and fostering social responsibility.
