A husband, wife, and their daughter have been remanded after appearing before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on allegations of stealing $7,000 while serving as caretakers.
The accused, Abubakarr Turay, Fatmata Bangura, and their daughter Kadiatu Turay were arraigned on two counts: conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, the trio allegedly conspired and stole the sum of $7,000 (equivalent to NLe 170,100) from the residence of Kai Kamara at Fadika Drive, Hill Station, on January 15, 2025.
During their court appearance, Abubakarr Turay pleaded not guilty, while his wife Fatmata Bangura and daughter Kadiatu Turay admitted to the offense.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Aminatu Daboh, requested an adjournment, citing the absence of key witnesses. Since the accused were unrepresented, no bail application was made on their behalf.
Magistrate Kekura ordered their remand, and the case was adjourned to January 31, 2025, for further proceedings.
