Momoh Amara Sesay, 43, and Ishmael Kargbo, 24, made their second court appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on charges of wounding with intent and wounding, both contrary to sections 18 and 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

The prosecution alleges that on October 10, 2024, at Madina Phase Three, Charlotte Village, Grafton, the two accused maliciously wounded Ibrahim Jalloh, a businessman.

During the proceedings, Assistant Superintendent of Police I. Mansaray led the prosecution, presenting Jalloh as the first witness.

In his testimony, Jalloh stated that he encountered the accused carrying cement near his property without his consent. When he confronted them, an argument ensued, leading to a physical altercation.

Jalloh claimed that Kargbo, the second accused, pushed him, causing an injury to his foot, while Sesay, the first accused, bit him on the back and struck him on the head with an iron rod, leaving him severely injured and bleeding.

Jalloh was taken to the Rokupr Government Hospital, where he received nine stitches for his head wound.

Evidence presented in court included photos of the injuries, tendered both digitally and in hard copy, as well as a medical report and the iron rod allegedly used in the assault.

Defense counsel S. Bangura cross-examined the witness and renewed a bail application for the accused, but Magistrate Kekura denied the request, ordering both men to be remanded at the male correctional facility.

The case has been adjourned to November 28, 2024, for further proceedings.
