Driver remanded for alleged housebreaking and larceny

Thirty-two-year-old Ibrahim Michael, a driver, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown, facing one count of housebreaking and larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offense, on March 2, 2025, at Mambo Peninsula, Goderich, Western Area, Freetown, the accused broke into the dwelling house of Amara Saffa with intent to steal.

He allegedly stole one Dell Core i5 laptop valued at fifteen thousand Leones (NLe 15,000) and cash amounting to forty thousand Leones (NLe 40,000), bringing the total value of stolen items to fifty-five thousand Leones (NLe 55,000), all property of Amara Saffa.

When the charge was read and explained, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, Sergeant 8975 Bangura I.S., requested a short adjournment to allow time for a proper conference with his witness.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura denied bail due to the serious nature of the offense and remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to March 21, 2025.
