Thirty-two-year-old Philip Josiah, a contractor, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on three charges: wounding with intent, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offense, on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Navo Drive, Hill Station, in the Mountain Rural District, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly wounded Alfred Kamanda with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

On counts two and three, the accused is further alleged to have maliciously wounded and assaulted the complainant, thereby causing him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, requested a short adjournment as his witness was absent in court.

The accused was not legally represented.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura denied bail due to the serious nature of the offense and adjourned the matter to February 28, 2025, for further proceedings.
