Late  Senator Prince Y.Johnson

Condolences have been pouring in for the late Liberian former warlord, Senator Prince Y.Johnson, who died in the early hours of Thursday in Liberia.

Prince Johnson would have been among Liberians to appear before a War Crime Court and answer to war crime charges, but death has naturally made him escaped justice.

Like Sierra Leone, Liberia is about setting up a war crime court that would try all those that bore hands in the brutal war that distabilised the Mano River Union country.

Senator Johnson, according to FrontPageAfrica, collapsed in his bathroom during shower and went into coma and that he was later confirmed dead upon arrival at the Hope For Women Hospital in Paynesville.

In his condolence message, Liberian President, Joseph Boakai described his death as a loss not only to his family, his constituents, but the nation as a whole.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Johnson family and the people of our industrious County of Nimba,” the president was quoted in a statement from the Presidential Mansion.

The President further assured the family of the Government’s support in honoring the late senator’s memory and contributions.

“While we may not have always agreed on the path our nation pursued, we recognise the impact of his work and his dedication to representing the people of Nimba County in the Liberian Senate,” President Boakai remarked.

As the country reflects on the legacy of Senator Johnson, the President calls on all Liberians to respect this moment of mourning and to keep his family and loved ones in their prayers.

Former President George Weah also remarked: “I offer my deepest condolences over the sudden passing of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, who reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday, November 28, 2024 here in Monrovia. Liberia is bereaved; Nimba is bereaved; the Liberian Senate is bereaved. I extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and all those impacted by his passing.
