In a heartwarming gesture of interfaith solidarity, Chairman of the Bombali District Council, who is a Weslyan Christian, extended an invitation to the Muslim community for a special iftar gathering during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The event, held at the Conference Hall of the Council, brought together Muslims in the district to share a meal with the Chsirman as a way of strengthening the bonds of unity.
Dr. Mohamed M.B Sisay, known for his inclusive approach and commitment to communal harmony, said the iftar was a symbol of mutual respect and togetherness.
“Ramadan is a time of reflection, generosity, and community. I wanted to show my respect for our Muslim brothers and sisters and celebrate this spirit of unity with them,” he said.
Community members appreciated the gesture, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to come together in peace and friendship.
Religious leaders from both communities spoke about the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation in building a peaceful society.
As the sunset and prayers were offered, guests broke their fast with a variety of delicacies and traditional dishes.
The event ended with warm conversations, shared smiles, and a renewed commitment to coexistence.
