Journalist kills journalist: Please close the door to darkness
By Sulaiman Momodu

A few days ago, a journalist in Sierra Leone, a manager of a radio station in Waterloo near Freetown, reportedly confessed to masterminding the killing of his colleague, his deputy. Sad and tragic. The police are investigating him and his accomplices.
As a journalist by profession myself and a Sierra Leonean who covered the bloody civil war in our country years ago during which I witnessed savagery deeply rooted in unbridled corruption and greed, and as someone who monitors global events, I thought I should encourage you to please close the door to darkness.
Over the years of seeking the Lord, I have discovered the truth in the Word of God through experience and I can say very authoritatively that the Word of God is very true. I have also discovered that many people, including Christians, are completely ignorant about the Kingdom of God. I also read the views of people who do not believe in God from time to time and I honestly find them absurd.
You see, the spiritual realm is an unseen but an undeniable reality. God created a beautiful world, but we have made it ugly through our thoughts, actions, and choices. Understand that dark forces are attracted to fear, doubt, confusion, jealousy, envy, corruption etc. Sierra Leone is still very corrupt.
How to stop darkness? Know who you are. I can assure you that demonic forces do not have control over you unless you allow them to. The greatest weapon you have is your knowledge of the Word of God and applying it. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” There are two realms at work at every moment: the natural and the spiritual. In the spiritual, there are forces for good and forces for evil. Change your thinking by staying positive, say ‘no’ to fear, hate corruption, avoid toxic people and environment, work hard, strive for excellence, be trustworthy, control your flesh, and above all believe in God. Holiness attracts divine protection, but a sinful life invites demonic forces.
My encouragement? Seek knowledge and apply it and your life will never be the same. Remember that if you are a believer, you are the light of the world, so do not conform to the patterns of this world. Your past is your past. Focus on your destination and live a purposeful life. I have read tons of motivational books. All of them encourage you to be a person of value and success will follow you.
I have been working at the international level for many years now. Is it easy? Of course not. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline. My greatest achievement though is discovering the truth in the Word of God. If the Word of God which transforms is truly in your spirit, you become a person of value/values and peace and success will naturally follow you. May the soul of the brutally murdered colleague rest in peace!
