The Attorney General used the opportunity to shed light on the progress made in those important areas and President Julius Maada Bio’s unwavering commitment to advancing justice sector reforms in Sierra Leone.

Attorney General Sesay outlined the origins and journey of the constitutional review process, explaining how the initiative began as a collaborative effort to ensure that Sierra Leone’s constitution remains relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of the nation.

He also highlighted some of the key amendments and proposals currently under discussion, which aim to enhance democratic governance, strengthen the rule of law, and improve the rights of citizens.

“The constitutional review process is an essential step in ensuring that our legal framework reflects the values of fairness, inclusivity, and justice for all Sierra Leoneans,” the Attorney General stated. “As we move forward, the amendments being considered will pave the way for a stronger, more transparent, and accountable governance system.”

The Attorney General further emphasized President Bio’s commitment to reforming Sierra Leone’s justice sector. During the conversation, Attorney General Sesay also discussed the importance of engaging with the citizens and key stakeholders throughout the review and reform process. He stressed that public involvement is crucial to building a system that works for everyone and that transparency and accountability remain fundamental principles in the ongoing constitutional review process.

“It’s always great to have these interactions with the citizens we are called to serve,” he said. “The input of the people is vital, and their feedback is instrumental in ensuring that the reforms we are implementing reflect the aspirations of all Sierra Leoneans.”
