Alleged fraudster remanded for obtaining $50,000 of Gold

A notorious fraudster, Emerson Bockarie Senessie, was  on Monday 6 January, 2025 remanded to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre by Magistrate Wilbrie John of the Pademba Road Court No.7 for allegedly obtaining fifty thousand United States Dollars from the complainant for transporting Gold.

The accused made his first appearances before the court on two counts of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The charge sheet indicated that Senessie, between 17th February to 7th June 2024 in Liberia conspired with other persons unknown to defraud Mary Theresa Kamara the sum of $50,000 equivalent to one million, one hundred and thirty eight thousand, five hundred new Leones by falsely pretending that he will buy and ship gold to her at United States of America knowing to be false.

After the charges were read and explained to him by the court Clerk, he pleaded not guilty of the offense.

During his first appearance, Senessie was not represented by any lawyer and the Magistrate was ready to proceed with the matter when the prosecutor sought for date, saying that he wanted to have proper conference with the complainant.

Meanwhile, Magistrate John remanded Senessie and adjourned the matter to today for further hearing.
