Alleged fraudster committed to High Court for trial

Magistrate Peter Gogra of the Ross Road Court No.3 has committed Abdulai Conteh , a businessman,  to the  High Court for fraudulently converting a mobile phone to his own use.

 It was alleged that the phone was entrusted to him by Ibrahim Foday Kamara.

The accused was before the court on one count of fraudulent conversion contrary to laws of Sierra Leone.

Police alleged that on Thursday, 10th August, 2023, at Horton Street in Freetown, the accused fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit a Techno spark 10 mobile phone valued two thousand Leones (NLe2, 000), entrusted to him by Ibrahim Foday Kamara for the purpose of safe keeping.

When the charge was read to the accused by the court registrar he pleaded not guilty.

Deputy Superintend of Police led the witness to testify in court to form part of the court records and evidence.

Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Gogra noted that he had looked at the evidence adduced before him and that the prosecution had provided sufficient evidence against the accused.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra granted bail to the accused in the sum of thirty Leones (NLe30, 000) with two sureties in like sum.
