Sierra Leone to face Guinea/ Liberia in MRU final

Following a decisive win at the Makeni  Wusum Stadium, the Sierra Leone U20 female team (Shooting Starlet) will hope to face Guinea or Liberia in the grand finale of the Mano River Union tournament.

The team dislodged the Liberian Senior National team 2-0 in match day-2 of 2024 Mano River Union tournament.

The host dominated the first half creating several promising opportunities that could have given them an early lead over the visitors but the composure and confidence level of both teams became evident throughout the first half which ended goalless.

In the second half, both teams stepped up to secure the maximum points but it was the tactical discipline and tenacity of shooting starlets that paid off in the 65 minutes when Adama Mansaray scored the opener after smashing the ball from an open play to put her side in front.

Shooting Starlet held firm of their lead and would go on to score a second goal in the 86th minute through second half substitute Sarah Turay whose decisive goal comfortably saw them dislodged the Liberian senior National female team, marking shooting starlets first win in the three nations tournament.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone now leads the park with four points after two matches, followed by Guinea with a point and Liberia with no point so far.
