Mohamed Sesay appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing three charges: threatening to murder, threatening to burn a house, and insulting conduct.

The charges stem from an incident on September 27, 2024, around 8:00 p.m. at Freeman Drive, Imatt, Freetown.

According to the charge sheet, Sesay allegedly threatened to murder his mother, Kadiatu Mansaray, and burn down her house. He is also accused of using disparaging language against her, intending to provoke a breach of the peace.

When the charges were read, no plea was taken. Inspector Sellu T.A.P. led the prosecution’s first witness, Kadiatu Mansaray, who identified the accused as her son.

Mansaray testified that on the day of the incident, her son threatened to kill her, insulted her, and vowed to set her house on fire, causing her deep shame.

The defense counsel applied for bail, arguing that the charges were billable, and stating that the accused, a family man, could work toward resolving the matter outside of court. However, Magistrate Kekura denied bail, citing concerns that Sesay would interfere with the witness, as they live together.

The case was adjourned to November 6, 2024.
