Accused sent to prison for alleged robbery

20-year-old Robert Turay, made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court N0.3 and was sent to the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for alleged robbery.

The accused is standing trial on two count charges to wit robbery with aggravation and unlawful possession contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The indictment was read out to him by the court registrar and no plea was taken from him. 

It was alleged that on  2nd May 2023, at Wilkinson Road, Freetown, being armed with a knife, the accused robbed Olivia Fewry  of one Iphone XMax valued ( Nle9,500).

It was also alleged that at the same time, immediately, before or after such robbery, the accused did use personal violence on the said Olivia.

It was further alleged on count 2 that on the same date and location in Freetown, the accused person was found in possession of a kitchen Knife with red handle which he must has stolen or unlawfully obtained.

The state counsel sought for a short date due to the absence  of his witness, who he intend to bring to court on the next adjourned date.

The defense counsel made an application for bail to be admitted to the accused person, but the Magistrate refused.

The matter was adjourned to the 21st June 2023 for further hearings.
