Plumber remanded for alleged theft of Guma meter

Thirty-eight-year-old John Kamara, a plumber, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on a charge of Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on 18th March 2025, at #3A Syke Street in Freetown, the accused allegedly stole a Guma Valley water meter valued at five thousand Leones (Le5,000), property of the Guma Valley Water Company, while it was in the custody of Gibril Yillah.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo requested a short adjournment, citing the absence of his witness in court.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 10th April 2025 for further hearing.
