Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Well of Parliament
The minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation yesterday brought Parliament to a standstill as he failed to communicate to the House Leader whether he would report for sittings or not-a development that caused the Speaker to adjourn the sittings to another date.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was to present to the House the cooperation agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and the Government of Saudi Arabia and also a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia respectively.
According to the House Leader and Leader of Government Business, Hon. Matthew Nyuma, no excuse was received from the Minister or his deputy. “Furthermore, we also notified them about their documents that have stayed too long on the internal notice paper and we want to do away with them and it’s a government motion. So, it’s with you to engage the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Let them put somebody in charge to give you this document, otherwise, the Business Committee will take them out of the internal notice paper,” he stated. The sittings were adjourned to the 22nd April, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Minister later reported in the parliament Chamber whilst the Speaker was announcing the next adjournment date.
