Attorney General transforms justice sector with launch of E-Justice Blueprint

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay and Deputy Minister of Justice, Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh, had officially launched the development of the e justice blueprint , marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing digital transformation journey within the justice sector.

This crucial initiative is a key deliverable under the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project  and aims to modernize and digitize the country’s justice system, enhancing efficiency and transparency across all levels of governance.

The Attorney General, Alpha Sesay, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “The e- Justice Blueprint marks a crucial step toward modernizing Sierra Leone’s Justice System,making it more accessible,efficient,and transparent. As a government, we are committed to enhancing the rule of law and ensuring that justice is not only a privilege but a right for all citizens,regardless of their location .This blueprint will address key gaps in oour current systems and ensure that we are well-equipped to handle the challenges of a digital age.”

The consulting firm, Canadian Academic and Indistrial Network (CAAIN), which is leading the development of the e-Justice Blueprint, brings significant international experience in digital solutions and justice sector reforms. Their expertise will guide Sierra Leone through the complexities of transitioning to an e-Justice framework, ensuring that the country leverages best practices and innovative technologies in its digital transformation process.

Ms. Kumba Musa, the Project Coordinator , reiterated the importance of stakeholder collaboration in making the project a success, “ this project is a collective effort. Every stakeholder,from government officials to citizens,plays a crucial role in the success of the e-justice blueprint. Our shared goal is to create a system that serves everyone, and we are committed to working closely with the Ministry of Justice,the legal community,and international partners to achive this vision.”

The launch of the e-Justice Blueprint is part of the government’s broader effort to ensure that Sierra Leone’s justice system keeps pace with global technological advancements.

The  ultimate goal includes to create a more accessible, user-friendly, and integrated justice system that improves service delivery for citizens, strengthens accountability, and enhances the rule of law.

As the development of the e-Justice Blueprint progresses, there is optimism about the future of the justice sector in Sierra Leone. With the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, the support of international partners, and the involvement of stakeholders across sectors, the country is poised to embrace a digital future in which justice is more efficient, accessible, and transparent for all citizens.
