Man sentenced to one year in prison for theft

Alhaji Dumbuya made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown, facing one count of housebreaking and larceny.

According to the charge sheet, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Turay Compound, New England Ville, Freetown, the accused broke into the house of Sallay Kamara with intent to steal.

He allegedly stole five gallons of rubber, each valued at forty Leones, totaling two hundred Leones, along with fiscal cash of two thousand five hundred Leones. The total value of the stolen items and cash amounted to two thousand seven hundred Leones, all belonging to Sallay Kamara.

When the charge was read in court, the accused pleaded guilty.

As a result, Magistrate Kekura sentenced him to one year in prison or a fine of one thousand Leones. The accused chose to pay the fine in open court.
