The Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts has ordered the Senior Human Resource Officer to present nine unverified staff who have been receiving salaries despite not working in the ministry.

During a parliamentary hearing, auditors recommended the removal of 83 unverified staff from the payroll and demanded that all salaries paid to them be recovered and returned to the Consolidated Fund.

While management pleaded for delays in staff verification, nine employees remain unverified, with total salaries paid to them amounting to NLe 64,436.

The Senior Human Resource Officer informed the committee that the nine individuals are not employees of the Ministry of Lands, making it difficult for them to appear for verification.

In response, the committee directed the Accountant General, Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), and the Ministry of Lands to ensure that all nine unverified staff appear before Parliament on Monday, March 10, 2025.

He said failure to do so will result in the salaries being charged to those responsible for the payments.
