Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, a presidential hopeful under the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), has launched an agricultural foundation in Masiaka, Port Loko District, aimed at boosting food production and empowering local farmers.
The foundation, themed “Feeding the Nation,” was organized by farmers from ten towns and sub-villages in Masiaka to support subsistence farming. The initiative marks a significant step toward improving agricultural practices and ensuring food security in the region.
Farmers in Masiaka hailed Jagaban as the first leader to introduce such a large-scale initiative dedicated to their welfare. Speaking on behalf of the farmers, the chairman of the organization highlighted the challenges they face in farming, including lack of financial support, modern tools, and technical assistance.
He explained that after assessing their struggles, the farming community’s executive body deliberated on potential solutions and unanimously agreed that Jagaban was the right leader to transform their vision into reality. Consequently, they sought his support, both financially and materially, to uplift the sector.
Upon his arrival, Jagaban and his delegation received a warm welcome from the farmers and community members in Masiaka. In his keynote address, he encouraged the farmers to remain focused on their goals, work collectively, and commit to the long-term success of the initiative.
“As farmers, you play a crucial role in the country’s development. By working together with dedication and determination, we can achieve a self-sufficient Sierra Leone,” Jagaban stated.
Demonstrating his commitment, he donated NLE 60 million to support all subsistence farmers across the ten towns and sub-villages in Masiaka.
Jagaban has long been recognized for his philanthropy and unwavering support for Sierra Leoneans, regardless of political affiliation, region, religion, or gender. His leadership is widely seen as one driven by compassion, wisdom, and selfless dedication.
Many describe him as a “true servant-leader” whose influence goes beyond politics. His vision is centered on uniting and empowering Sierra Leoneans while fostering economic growth and social development.
