The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), Rev. Smart K. Senesie, has disclosed that his organization will launch a Highway Management Program today, Monday, February 3, 2025, to address issues such as stationary vehicles, overloading, over speeding, and misconduct by road personnel.

Speaking to this medium, Rev. Senesie stated that the SLRSA has been working tirelessly to reduce road accidents despite facing numerous challenges, including issues related to the behavior of some personnel, which the institution is actively working to address.

He revealed that the SLRSA already has a dedicated unit focused on personnel integrity and other matters and plans to expand it to enhance the institution’s credibility across the country and the sub-region.

Rev. Senesie also commended President Bio for appointing AIG Brima Lengor, a long-serving police officer with extensive experience in traffic management. He expressed optimism that AIG Lengor’s expertise will help improve discipline among personnel and enhance overall traffic management.

He further called on the public to join the SLRSA on February 3, 2025, for the official kick-off of the Highway Management Program along the Masiaka-Bo/Kenema Highway and the Makeni-Kono Highway.

Rev. Senesie also highlighted past challenges in acquiring tow vehicles, noting that the ones he inherited had been in use for over ten years. However, with the support of the Minister of Transport, the SLRSA has now secured new tow trucks to enhance road safety and protect lives and property in Sierra Leone.
